Our History and Meaning:
History of the farm Dipitsi:
Dipitsi is one of several farms surrounding the Matlabas river, some of which border the Limpopo river. Farmers have farmed and hunted in the region for hundreds of years, thus ensuring that the eco-system is kept in balance. The farm-owners are well known to one another, and share many happy hours together in discussions and regarding the future conservation of their farms.
The meaning of ‘Dipitsi’:
Dipitsi is a word taken from one of the local tribes, the Sotho people. The word itself means horse (Pitsi) or many horses (Dipitsi), thus the logo of the striped ‘horse’ i.e. the Zebra.
Years of Excellence
Background of Involved Persons:
Dipitsi Safaris is owned by Louwrens Hamman. He was born and raised in Pretoria. He is also an avid horseman [polo player] and businessman. His love of nature was instilled in him from a young age. Today he specialises in an array of Safaris.
Louwrens was raised in a semi-rural area, and his vision to own a farm with magnificent African wildlife has materialised at Dipitsi Safaris. His knowledge of the bush is an inspiration to us all, and with conservation as the main focus on the farm, game is humanely culled [hunted] to enable the perfect balance of nature, within this controlled environment.
The aforementioned method of farm management is a responsible way of assisting nature in taking care of itself.
